BUTT PASTE, BUTT PASTE, BUTT PASTE!! Any time Nick has ever had a diaper rash, I can put that on him and it clears within a day. If you can't get Butt Paste, good ol' zinc oxide works wonders.

Butt paste has always worked for us... I think Jodi and April use a homemade remedy.

FWIW, I tried the homemade remedy and while it worked great (thanks, April!!) the Butt Paste worked just as well.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste works well for us too, as does Dr. Smith's (we have both- sometimes one works better than the other). Some people swear by Triple Paste, but I've never had any luck with it. Lucas gets HORRIBLE rashes- he has super sensitive skin. Sometimes I have seen him get a rash that fast. We hear him poop, immediately change and rash is there. My only advice is that if it's not clearing up in a day with the good creams, go see a doc. Could be yeast and if it is you have to have an antifungal or it'll never go away. Or buy a little tube of clotrimazole (Lotrimin athlete's foot cream) and apply it with the diaper cream twice a day for a week. That should clear it up if it's yeast (you just have to treat for the full week or it'll come back). Hope your guy feels better soon!

It's possible that Matthew has a yeast infection. We had that problem last year and the ped called in a Rx for nystatin cream. If you have a little monistat lying around, you could try that first, but we found that nystatin worked better. We'd put a thin layer of that on before slathering on the butt creme.

Homemade butt creme: 1 tube A&D, 1 tube Desitin (the one with 40% zinc oxide), 1 tube triple antibiotic cream and 4 Tb Mylanta liquid.

Schedule some naked butt time. Air is good for sore bottoms.

Could he be getting a tooth? Elizabeth used to get horrible diaper rash right before she got a tooth and once the tooth broke through it would go away almost immediately. It happened with Sarah, too, but not as bad. so far Ben doesn't seem to have that problem.

When they're really sore I just use Vaseline because the diaper rash creams tend to burn, even Butt Paste. I had a sample of some great stuff from BRU, but I don't remember what it's called. I've also liked the samples of Lansinoh.

I hope he feels better soon!

TRIPLE PASTE!! Even better the Butt Paste - it is more expensive but u don't use as much - I honestly had the same 2oz tube for 10 months with Sara and I use it almost everyday to prevent rashes! The have it everywhere - I get mine at Target.

A friend of mine and her SIL swears by Target brand diaper rash cream. I haven't tried it because A&D or Bodreuxs ButtPaste works for my kids. Hope he gets some relief soon, poor little guy!
