Did anyone take Metformin for their cycle?
I'm currently taking Metformin (500 mg pills, twice a day) for my gestational diabetes and have been doing so for about a month now.
I have been taking 2000 mg of metformin XR for my pcos. It can definitely upset your stomach, but usually subsides (once you've reached your max dosage) within a week or two. It doesn't last forever. If you want to help curb the stomach problems a bit, eliminate as much fat as possible from your diet while you max your dose.
Sorry you're having problems with it!
Thanks for the tip on the fat.
Ahhh good old metformin. I use it everyday and did way before my cycles. I was on 2000mg a day prior to getting preggo - MY ob insisted I go off at 13 week - I will fight MUCH harder to stay on next time - anyway - I am up to 1500 now - I have IBS so the stomach issues take me a while to get over - I tried 2000 last week and I was in such trouble I had to go off all together for a few days to get back to normal. Guess I'm not ready to go to 2000 - typically it takes me more then a month for the stomach issues to go down. Why do they have you on met For egg quality? Do you have PCOS issues?
I have borderline high FSH, so the metformin is for egg quality. Fingers crossed it works. Last time we had 17 eggs (on a pretty low dose of stims), 15 mature and 10 fert.
Michelle, thanks for my beautiful siggie.
Sam, Ahhh! I can't believe you are gearing up for your next IVF cycle! Boy, time flies...
Yeah, just give your body time to adjust to the Metformin. I know it can be very patient specific, so hopefully it won't be too bad for you.
I just got a letter a few weeks ago stating that the fertility clinic I went to for ER & ET (2 hrs away) now has an office just 15 min away from my house. (My RE moved to Florida when I was about 6 months pg.) I dunno, I've mentioned it to DH and he just says, "it is your body if you want to go through IVF again. I'm fine with just Maddie if you are." I'm having a hard time deciding and it will be more difficult as 2 of my best friends will likely both get pg in the next several months.
