New AAP Car Seat Recommendation
4
Wed, 04-01-2009 - 4:50pm

The American Academy of Pediatrics has been recommending that babies stay rear-facing in car seats to the limits of their car seats since 2002.

The new recommendation is that babies/toddlers stay rear-facing until they are at least 2 years old... http://aapnews.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/30/4/12-a

I'm assuming that this recommendation is based on the study published in the Injury Prevention Journal in December 2007... http://www.fortwayne.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/SE/20071210/NEWS/712100332

If anyone (esp. our newer members;) want more information about extended rear-facing, please let me know. Marcus was rf until he was 2 1/2 years old and Isabelle is still riding rf at 4 years old.

...plus your kids can't see you eating tasty snacks when they're rear facing. Just thought I'd throw out some practical points for those not won over by safety.

thanks for posting Melanie
