So I want to know how long it took you to get back into your pre-pregnancy clothes.

I'd like to know too... (not to sound discouraging) It's been almost 8 months and I am no where near pre-pregnancy clothes. Ok, so I had a few minor set backs in the meantime like toe surgeries that wouldn't heal to be able to exercise.

I got out of mat pants around 6mo pp. I bought those low riding gap pants, which really helped. I *just* got into my absolute fattest real skirt last week (9mo pp). Its not that I'm fat, because I'm not entirely *fat*. It's that my waist is totally distorted. True, this was my 4th kid and I'm 42yo. However, my 32yo neighbor who is really totally fit, as in bikes to work, coaches lacrosse, took 6mo to get back into her pants/skirts. I know because I whined to her about once a week for months. It takes time, be patient with yourself. HTH

I got back in them pretty quickly, but I was BFing twins--the amount of calories that burns is incredible. I think a lot of it has to do with how much weight you gained and whether you're BFing. I agree though that you sometimes need to revise you expectations---my waist is not bigger, but it's still a bit different (ok, flabbier) 2 years later. And my breasts were huge the whole time I was BFing, so I didn't fit in a lot of shirts.

I agree BF can have an effect on your size. For me, I can never EVER lose that last 10lb until I quit BFing (I've BFed 4 kids, not all at once). I also agree the speed at which you get back into regular pants is related to the amt of weight you gained. I call this the Klondike Bar Effect. Other factors are age, fitness, and how much sleep you're getting.

My hips never changed from my first to my fourth, I have enviable hips, I gotta admit. But I paid in my waist. Everyone's got a trouble spot. The truth is every woman is different. In my experience, and by knowing a lot of women with kids, most gals don't get near regular pants until 6mo. And most go up a size even though they may weigh the same, as Caren pointed out. My advice is to be patient with yourself. It took 9mo to destroy your figure, give it at least another 9mo to get back.
