We weaned tthis week....

So, after two years of breastfeeding, Madeline finally weaned this week. She had been down to one feeding in the AM only for the last 4 months or so. I have been doing child-led weaning, but gave her a push in the weaning direction. She asked for it once and once I redirected her she was actually fine. I think I was more upset than she was.

Its so weird, having that chapter be over. It was such a rough start,--mastitis four times, overproduction, latching issues--you name it. I never thought that I would make it. But, now I did and its over, and I kind of feel an emptiness inside.

Just wanted to check in and see whether anyone else had similar feelings when their baby finally weaned....

I had such mixed emotions when I weaned my boys. One was around 18 months and the 2nd at about 2 year.

First off, congratulations on making it to 2 years, that is a HUGE accomplishment, especially considering what you went through at the beginning.

Stefanie -

I'm late, but... Congratulations on your accomplishment of nursing for 2 years. I know you (and many other women here) really debate about continuing to nurse versus possibly starting another IVF cycle. It has to be a hard choice.

I think you are a wonderful to other moms who struggle with nursing at first and who are debating about whether to continue nursing beyond a certain point. There are so many benefits for mom and baby
