Choosing a clinic for try #2

We are planning on doing another fresh cycle this summer, but can't decide on which clinic to go with. The clinic I was with before was wonderful! We LOVED our Dr. He was really compassionate and responsive, emailing me personally on an almost daily basis.

I think it is really important to like the dr you are working with. If it were me and I could afford it, I would probably stick with the original clinic. Part of ivf is to have as minimal stress as possible and the bad bedside manner dr would stress me out. Not sure if this helps. Wishing you the best.

I agree....I think it would stress me out also. The original clinic is so warm and fuzzy!

But....the $ stresses me out too. I guess I just have to decide which stresses me out more?

In your shoes, I think money is just money ... yeah, it really sucks b/c no one wants to have to shell out so much money to have a family, but you're talking about a $5000 difference.

IMO, it's *really* important to feel comfortable w/ the doctor and the clinic, and that to me would be worth $5000.

I also think it might be worth talking to your favorite doctor about it. Tell him you saw the other doctor but didn't like his bedside manner. Tell him, though, that the price was a big factor and ask if there are any ways to reduce the costs for your second round if you stay with him. You've been there and paid full price the first time, so maybe they can cut you a break this time.

I really think it's unprofessional for the other doctor to trash talk like that. I would *not* feel comfortable using that clinic.

Is the "new clinic" the one you emailed me about?

Yes, the new clinic is the one you went to ;). It's Dr. B and you used good words...lame and egotistical, but good clinically. And I guess that's the important thing. I really wish Dr. A was still there so I had an option to go with him. Dr. S is in

Yeah, Dr B has a sucky personality so I can understand being torn. It's an interesting thought that he may be more inclined to prove himself...and with his ego it's probably true =) Are ER and ET still done at their South office? I LOVED the embryologist there and the North office staff was great too. Each doc is probably different but Dr A had me on suppositories. I was so happy to skip PIO!

Don't feel bad about going to your old doc and asking for a price break. At the end of the day they provide a service for a price...and you are a customer of that service and want to pay a particular price. Business is business and he'll understand that. KUP on how it goes!

Hmm...so they are cool with the supps. That is a plus for sure!

Yes, they do the ER/ET at the south office. Good to hear that you liked the embryologist. Thanks so much for your input! It helps to know that you had success there. And 4 to freeze...that's great!

Thanks again, I will keep you posted!
