QOTW - 2/7 - The unexpected

Sorry for the delay...Monday was a true Monday yesterday and I didn't have a chance to post this.
What has been the most unexpected (good or not so good) part of motherhood for you?

Some of my good unexpected:
- Agree with PP's - the love is unexplained and so, so fulfilling
- The sense of family is amazing - sharing this little amazing being with your DH makes you so strong
- I am finding I'm way more patient than I expected to be
- They just get cuter every, single day and every stage is more amazing than the last
Some of the so-so unexpected:
- I didn't realize how much responsibility falls on mama bear...my DH is fab but biology kind of makes a lot of things mama's work.
- I didn't realize how hard breast feeding would be at the beginning. But now we're still going at 20 months so it certainly got easier =) Sorcet, I'm hoping the 2nd time around happens for both of us and is MUCH easier.
- Getting together with friends is so hard now. Planning between the naps, sicknesses, etc. is tough and I feel a little out of touch with my girls.
- I had no idea how emotionally difficult it would be to go back to work. Now that I'm back in the swing I'm happy to be a working mom but I think countries who offer a year maternity leave rock...wish the US were one!
