being more emotionally stable at this stage in my life
being in a solid relationship for almost 17 years

One benefit I see is having been married for 28 yrs. And just having so much more life experience. You know what not to waste your energy on and what is worth the effort. Your home is established. And of course if you have older children~~ Babysitters! I have found that the experience of a younger sibling was a great thing for my older children.

A definite benefit is career wise - probably most of us are already at a secure place in our work careers, if we work. I have been lucky enough to get to a place where I can work from home, so having a baby doesn't throw my whole world into a tail spin at this age. Plus my kids are old enough to help and be independent - so i only have one little one to worry about
