You know, I don't have any real cravings -- nothing beyond my usual. I'm very impressionable when it comes to food, always have been. If I see a commercial for food or read about something in a mag, then I want it. But that's just how I always am.
I'm really lucky that I love healthy food. I've been doing a lot of fruits and veggies, whole grains, orange juice and low sodium V8 (in the little cans so I don't guzzle a ton at once -- would be easy for me to do!) and water. We're heading to the grocery store today and I don't think I've got a single unhealthy thing on it. The kids, OTOH... LOL.
I also don't have any aversions. Certain smells at the grocery store turn me off, but generally speaking I can eat whatever I did pre-pregnancy.
I will say that because I do eat really healthy for the most part, I don't deny myself the occassional treat. I've got a bag of sour gummies that we picked up at the candy store that I like to snack on here and there. We're also making a white cake today. Now I guess that's somewhat unusual for me as I prefer chocolate. But, Jake has decided he doesn't like full-on chocolate anymore, so that's more of a concession. LOL.
The grocery store we're going to has fresh sushi. I think I may have to pick some up. See what I mean?! LOL. :)
LOL -- I was telling Libby that Zoë needed the cake so she could be sweet. :)
And sushi rocks. I cannot wait until I can eat raw fish again, especially tuna. That's my favorite. But I'm staying away from every fish except the crab rolls since they don't contain a lot of mercury. Which isn't even a fish, but whatever. LOL.
I have heard the spicy/sweet craving idea for boy/girl also.
Urg, we didn't get around to cake. Libby's BFF is flying in from NC today so after work we had to hit the grocery store, so we did that, then we cleaned out the fridge (we bought all the produce at the store, LOL), then we had to hit Walmart for miscellaneous things, then we settled down to watch an episode of Castle, then hubby came home and not long after I went to bed.
But. I did get sushi. :)
I don't remember cravings with the boys so much, but with Libby I did do the sweet/sour candy thing. I remember getting a huge bag of bulk lemon heads and eating them until I was almost sick. All these years later and I still don't eat lemon heads anymore. LOL.
Though just doing a quick search for old wives tales, sour cravings is indicative of a boy. Maybe that just doesn't hold true for me, or maybe the sweet cancels it out. LOL. Funny thing is, the US tech is certain we're having a girls so we bought a TON of baby girl clothes, and I keep worrying that she's wrong and we'll be bringing home a naked baby boy. HA! But, we have another US on 3/22 so hopefully we'll get confirmation. :) As it is, I've saved all the clothes receipts. Just in case!
At least he would have the hospital's blanket and cap!:smileywink:
