I was 40 when I found out I was pregnant with my first baby and 41 when my beautiful little girl was born. I had been recommended for a hysterectomy at age 38 but resisted, got a 2nd opinion, had keyhole surgery to remove large fibroid. Was told that there was very slim chance of falling pregnant so my partner and I just got on with life, travel, our families etc. We were both totally rapt with the arrival of our gorgeous girl. I am 43 turning 44 next month and to our total suprise 12 weeks pregnant. I am totally for and well and now allowing my self to start feeling excited
Congrats and welcome! I'll be 42 when Zoë arrives, and like you I've had a lot of mixed emotions -- but overall, very thrilled. It's just a bit daunting and my body isn't what it used to be, LOL.
Best of luck to you as you embark on this journey! Hope all goes well!
Aww....Your child will be well loved. Doulas can be a great support. They can help with keeping you calm during labor and some even go beyond and help with childcare. The swimming is really good during pregnancy because its low impact and can be really soothing on aching bodies. All good things to talk with your ob at your apt. Ask them everything. This first trimester can be tough with nausea, sore breasts, exhaustion, headaches, etc. Sometimes it's really light..sometimes tough, but there are tons of things that can help. Foods they say to stay away from....raw fish like sushi, not too much tuna fish, shellfish, soft cheese like Brie, caffeine and alcohol, food that has been left out, like sandwich meat... Again ask the dr what he/she suggests :). I miss my sushi, Brie and wine the most. I still have sips of coffee because I get killer migraines. My old ob used to say...everything in moderation.
Huge congrats! Wonderful news! I would definitely suggest using an ob for a first pregnancy over forty. I know in some cases they will consider you high risk and recommend a good high risk dr to you. I'm def high risk because we have surprise triplets on the way. Being a mother is the most amazing feeling. I can't explain it...but it will definitely show you the meaning of true love. It's the most wonderful gift. Have you been to your ob yet? Have they set up your first ultrasound to confirm the baby and let you listen to the heartbeat? It's so amazing! You'll def cry :). Congrats again...ask us everything and anything...there are a half a dozen or more active mums here at the moment. Your journey will help others :). Hugs
