I think it's so great to hear how many natural pregnancies we have here. There are so many "professionals" that talk about the aged ovaries, scarred uterus linings, etc that cause pregnancy after 40 to be nearly impossible. I watched that Dr oz show a while back regarding women waiting to long and how it's so hard ( if not impossible) to conceive at our ages.... I was so disgusted to see how one sided it was and that they didn't welcome real success stories. I wrote my complaint to the show but got an automated thankyou for your comment, in return. I'm just always so thrilled to see how many new mums stop in here with their news and how many have come an gone with their beautiful bundles. Apparently our bodies aren't so decrepit after all! ........ Heres a link to the show i saw ........ It was a pathetic show. .... http://www.doctoroz.com/episode/when-are-you-too-old-have-baby ....... Here's another site that discusses it .... http://www.drozfans.com/dr-ozs-advice/dr-oz-when-are-you-too-old-to-have-a-baby/ .....what do you ladies think?

Ugh..menopause! They asked me that at my last GYN appt..I wanted to slap them. My grandmother had two children in her 40s..healthy, happy boys. I had 3 losses in my 20s and 30s...and I know so many women in their 20s and 30s that have had trouble. I'm frustrated that there doesn't seem to be anyone on our side that says it can happen and DOES happen. All you hear is all the negative.

see?! if it's meant to be, it will be!!

this is why I don't want to drive myself crazy with TTC!! even OPK's can't give you an accurate, pinpoint time of ovulation....I've tried OPK, charting, taking cough syrup, taking DHEA & no luck the past few months!!

To answer your question. Nope I was done trying. DH and I did the deed a couple of times right after my period and then on Valentines day I was so sick from then onwards with a horrible cough and then dh got it and we weren't even sleeping in the same room, as we were keeping each other awake. I figured that month was a definate no as there was little to no activity. That and I ovulate later, I always have but apparently not that time! As that was the month that I got pregnant. Talk about a shock!!!

I haven't actually watched this show but I am not surprised. After I had my daughter at 36 my family doctor started bringing up menopause, really, at 36. Last fall I had my IUD removed so I could try with my new spouse (he has no biological children) and I heard so much about how old I was (I am 40) and how hard it would be for me to get pregnant naturally. We decided to try and if it didn't work, we weren't going to go for treatments. But low and behold, first try and I am pregnant. Interestingly, my mother was 38 when she had my sister (no problems conceiving), my grandmother was 40 when she had my aunt (no problems), my aunts all had children in their late 30's. The view out there is very one sided and many people that have found out I am pregnant are shocked because I am "so old"... laughing because to me that sounds silly, my daughter is only 4, I haven't been away from diapers that long.

Did you start to give up, then just casually tried with DH?

Because DH & I conceived natuarally (I was 43), unfortunately I did have a missed m/c (I was 11.5 weeks along when I had us, that confirmed no more hb :smileysad:)

Sadly, we started trying again when I was given the 'go ahead' after D&C, but we've had no luck (it's only been a few months)....but I'm about to give up.

I mean, DH & I will still try, BUT not doing TTC, charting, OPK's, taking cough syrup, etc....

Exactly! There are issues at all ages. Pregnancy is not always easy..but to say it impossible just because we turn 40 is pure bull

Wendy I too watched that show and it was after that I decided I wasn't going to try anymore. I'd only tried for 2mths but after hearing that once you turn 40 a woman has a 5% chance of concieving naturally I figured it would never happen, so I'd save myself the grieve and made a personal decision to give up. Well low and behold it was the minute I said that that I got pregnant! So in short, balony to their statistics! Not only that that show terrified me on the odds of a miscarriage at my age, again I'll be 12wks tomorrow!!! Yes lousy show if you are over 40, I'm blown away just browsing over 40 boards at just how many successful pregnancies and births that there are, I was convinced it was all doom and gloom and it's most certainly not!

well, I got pg. right away, when I was 43, sadly lost Taylor, BUT I don't think that because I m/c'd, it was because of my age....DH & I are currently trying again & I HOPE I can get pg. again!
