My husband and I have raised our kids and recently sent the youngest off to college.

Hi 2grownkids, welcome to the board. It's hard to tell what's going on, especially with the negative test yesterday. Do you think it's possible that you could be going through early stages of menopause? I'm not sure if that would cause a positive test or not, but your periods being off could. Let us know how your doctor's appointment goes, I'll be thinking of you.

How was your appointment with the doctor?

Thanks for asking; this week has been hectic. When we got to the doctor, we were surprised to find out the doctor wasn't even in the building and our appt. was really with her nurse. My spotting had increased and I was feeling pretty sure this pregnancy wasn't viable. The nurse met us with a "new mommy" bag (despite the fact that I told them on the phone that I thought something was wrong), I broke into tears and re-explained what was going on. She didn't seem to hear me at all, she just started in with asking me about date and questioning why we were "hesitant". She told me I would not be able to get an ultrasound and see a doctor until I allowed her to do the work-up information with her. I did make it through to getting the test (positive with a number of 1100) without going hysterical, but left without answering all of her questions. When she called the next day with results, she explained to me that I still couldn't get an exam without meeting with her first. I explained that I was bleeding more and agreed to getting a second test. We won't know those results until after the holiday weekend. In the meantime, my flow increased dramatically and i had terrible cramps. A traumatic trip to the ER ended with a diagnosis of miscarriage with possibility that something more might be going on as their blood test gave them an increased number rather than the decrease we were all expecting. The ultrasound showed a "deformed egg sack" and they sent me home with a rx for vicidan and a follow up appt. for Tuesday. I'm appalled at the care I got from the first doctor's office and hoping to get some good care from this next place. Our ER doc had a great bedside manner and was very understanding, but now that I'm home I wish he had been more specific. He was tiptoeing around the subject a little bit- maybe being careful about his wording- so now after a second evening of terrible cramps and bleeding, I'm left wondering what's next. Though we weren't told there was a heartbeat, I'm still worried a little freaked out that somehow I'm not the only one in pain. Despite this not being planned, my husband and I are grieving and I'm feeling more scared than ever...
Whew- that was a long post; I guess I just needed to get it out. Thanks

(((HUGS))) How awful that nurse was to you! I'm sorry that you still aren't getting much information, I hope you are doing better today.
