I am a 43 year old Mother of a soon to be 16 year old and soon to marry the love of my life, who happens to be 15 years younger than me. He has never been married and has no children, and wants children. I was open to this idea, when we first started dating, almost 2 years ago, but as time goes on I am concerned about health risks, the impact it will have on my daughter and just plain scared of the unknown. I have always wanted more children, but I had hoped it would be early on in my life, not at this time in my life.  What are my risks, have any of you out there been in my exact predicament??

Most, if not all, woman 40 and over, goes through the worries of "what if"..."am I too old"..

The truth of it is it doesn't matter what your age is.  The risks are there in any pregnancy, no matter your age.  My grandmother was 42 and 45 when she had her last two sons.  She had them at home and both are healthy and now in there 60's.

I agree with Brie..  this time around was tougher physically.  I'm not sure if it was the circumstance or my age.

Is there a medical reason?..are you healthy?  Is there a reason not to have a child at this point in your life?  Are you emotionally and physically ready for it?  Are you stable financially?

To me.. age is a number.  You are a young as you feel.
