Appt/ultrasound update, big scare, and a question......

I had my first "real" appointment today. One of the first things my dr did was try to find the heartbeat with the doppler. After a few minutes with no luck she said she would take me back for an ultrasound.....talk about panic attack!!!!! She did an abdominal u/s first and after a few minutes she said, "I don't see the heartbeat but I see the baby moving......let's do a vaginal." Well, I knew all must be well b/c I could see the baby moving around in there too so that was a big relief! Then when we did the vaginal u/s we saw the heartbeating, the baby's arms and legs moving around.......so cute!! We saw the baby crossing it's legs at one point and waving to us. My doctor sat and talked with me for awhile and gave me four pictures! She said she everything looks great, baby's measuring right on track and I can stop taking the progesterone if I want to. I'm kind of nervous about that but at the same time they make me so sick! When do people usually stop taking the progesterone? I think for the first time, I'm starting to feel good about this pregnancy and less nervous! Btw, I'm nine weeks. I can't figure out how to get a ticker on here.

Wow it's amazing that you can see all that so early! My sister is 9 weeks today, she is a size 2 and this is her 4th but you really can't tell she's pregnant, to think that that is going on inside is just mind blowing!!

Congrats on a great appointment! There is NOTHING like seeing LO moving & growing :) I think I stopped the progesterone at week 11/12 when I took it last time and it had made me SO much sicker too.

It is crazy to think all that's going on in there! The one blessing that came from my last miscarriage was that I was getting one to two u/s's a week from 7 to 11 wks so I watched the baby grow from a little bean with a heart beat to a baby with arms and legs moving around! It truly is amazing!! It's weird b/c with my last healthy pregnancy, which was my fourth child, I was showing by nine weeks. I'm not showing this time around but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I'm trying hard to hide it. I'm going to hide it as long as I can!

That's great!! I was so sick of the progesterone by the time I was told I could stop taking it, but nervous about stopping at the same time. I was 12 weeks when my OB told me to stop. But I would think if yours thinks it's time, then it's probably time.

Wow, that would've scared the bejeezes outta me too, before I saw the baby move. Phew!!

My OB is keeping me on the progesterone until 12 weeks, but if your doctor seems to think it's ok earlier, then it should be fine.

So glad you got to see your active little one, waving. So fun!

What a wonderful appointment! I'm so glad you got to see your LO and the hb...especially after that scare!

I stayed on progesterone suppositories 2x/day until 12 weeks. I tapered it off beginning around 10 weeks to once a day, then at 11 weeks once EOD and then done by 12...although I snuck in a dose or two after that to help with my sanity. ;-)
