Spotting after Pap...so mad

SO I stupidly let my OB do a pap.

I said what are odds of me spotting after this when it was done. She said oh you may but not much. Well by the time I got home an hr later, I was spotting a bunch & bright red. Im still spotting this am, fortunately it doesnt seem to be increasing but its still red & still there.

Ive also had cramping & it hurts when I sit down. Great! I know it can be totally normal but being PAL I dont want to see any blood. Also given I had no cramping before & now I do & my m/s seems to be lighter today.

Of course my OB is off until Monday. I know I can run to ER if needed. I'm also not getting another u/s until end of Jan & I dont even have it scheduled yet as the dept left early yesterday.

Mindy,
I had the same scare after my pap. I will tell you, I went to the ER for a quick u/s and it made me feel SO MUCH BETTER! Don't feel badly if you need to go to the ER for peace of mind.

Ugh that sucks Mindy. The exact same thing happened to me this time. I had NO spotting whatsoever this pregnancy (I had some degree of spotting in my other 3) until she did that pap. It was done at 12.5 weeks and then I had my big bleed at 14 weeks where they told me the placenta was right over my cervix. I can't imagine the pap helped that any!

Anyways, I'm glad it's getting better for you and try to remember that it is VERY likely from your cervix because your doc irritated it. And your ms will likely be back full swing tomorrow! It's our crazy PAL brains that make us over analyze every little thing!

I feel you...I spotted after my pap too...and if you look back throught the archives..i basically let PAL brain take me to the brink of insanity...I was saying goodbye to PAL boards and freaking out...and here I am 25 weeks and going strong! When I was preggo with my twins I had even more spotting..there is alot of pressure down there right now..even if they are little peanuts...but double all the blood as usually usual for pregnancy..ykwim? Please try and relax...from one PAL to another I will tell myself "cha right"...but know you are not alone...and that it is completely normal tp spot after pap!

Thanks everyone for making me feel better.

I havent seen any more blood since this am so I do feel better. & my m/s didnt really go away as much as I thought (thats good & bad)

Now its just weird cramps or pains which I would normally say are the babies getting bigger or the sac, etc... but now Im saying its the sacs detaching.

I decided not to hit the ER but I would go if I was still bleeding.

Now I just dont know what to think.

As far as quantity of blood its slim but Im having more again since after cooking & cleaning up after dinner.

Im having more weird cramps though. Then when I peed it was almost like my cervix hurt. Im sure Im imagining stuff at this point.

I mean it just cant be possible that a pap can trigger a m/c but then Im thinking some women are put on pelvic rest in 1T. Surely a pap is not part of that. Ugh.

I think the pelvic rest in the 1T is usually because of subchorionic hematomas and the like. I can't imagine that OB's would do routine paps on us prego's if there was any evidence that they caused m/c. That said, when I started spotting after mine, I hit google hard core and really wish I hadn't have! lol.

Try not to worry too much. I know what you mean about your cervix hurting. I think I had that sensation too. It's like the pap irritates things that much more during pregnancy.
