Im 2 days shy of 20 wks.

I guess I had my anat scan at the last appt & I didnt know it. I guess that explains why I was lying there for 45 mins.

I went in early for scan @ 10 days vs 14 as Im going out of country on Wed. The boyz look good, fluid good, cervix good. They were punching & kicking each other. Then I got a blow I wasn't expecting from a new Dr as my regular was not on today; She asked if they ever told me there was a problem with my placenta. I said Nooooooo.

She showed me, its basically right next to my cervix, not sure of measurement but Im talking a hair away from it. She said hopefully it should move as uterus grows. Ugh, just what I needed, something else to worry about! I find it strange that my reg Dr didnt mention it but I guess thats a good sign he wasnt worried. I haven't had any spotting which is also a good sign.

FX no placenta previa or spotting for me.

Wow, I wonder why they didn't tell you. P&PT for no spotting or placenta previa. Sounds like you have some active boys!

Hey Mindy! Congrats on nearing fhe 20 week mark! On the previa, they refused to diagnose it on me either and the tech is the one that mentioned it was marginal, the radiologist actually never reported it! That was at nearly 14 weeks when I had some unexplained spotting! It completely moved at my anatomy scan, which I had at 22 weeks. My guess is that they are watching it and don't want to make that decision now as it does Change in most cases as the uterus grows.

Try not to give it too much thought and have a great trip!

My placenta was partially covering the cervix at 12 weeks and again at 20 so had a further US at 34 weeks and its moved so way too early to worry yet. So pleased your boys are doin well.

Glad to hear its a common problem & should hopefully move.
I was up last nite & couldnt fall asleep thinking what if it moves in wrong direction! Oh the worry never stops.
So thankful the boys look healthy though!

Love the boys are already playing with each other. I hope the placenta moves on it's own and you don't have to worry.

I'm glad that the boys are looking good. I had a lower placenta in my son's pregnancy, and it moved up. They also did multiple measurements of my cervix because they thought it was too short. It was fine, but I was walking around at +3 from about 37 weeks on. I still made it to my due date and slightly beyond. I know it's hard, but try not to worry. If the doctors were worried, they would have restricted you in some way by now.

Hi - I am a lurker around this board but wanted to comment about what I learned about the low placenta from my experience.

First, I found out that about 20% of pregnancies show a low placenta (over or near the cervix) during the 20 week scan.

Hi Mindy,

I'm glad everything looks good with the twins! I had a "low laying placenta" w/ this pregnancy too. It was next to, but not over, the cervix at my 16 week scan. All my docs have said it only ever moves away from the cervix so they're not worried. It was still close at 18 and 20 weeks, but has since moved away.
