Everything is totally normal for me and our little one. They went over the ultrasound report and it was totally normal. I got a meter to check my blood sugar a couple of times a couple of days at 28 weeks, rather than doing the standard GD tests. This seems so much better and easier to do instead of heading out to a lab for hours with DD. We discussed how quickly DD arrived and if I was worried at all. I'm really not. If anything I'm trying to remind myself that it could take much longer this time and not to get set on it being like DDs. She said that when we get closer they'll give me an emergency kit to have on hand in case it happens so quickly again.
The worry comes in about the birth center itself. It can't continue as it is. They have to close it. They are hoping that it can be quickly reopened as a community owned birth center that the midwives have access to practice at. Even in the best scenario there technically won't be a birth center for about a month ... probably about October. They say that they will continue with births during that month as they'll still have access to the building. Everything is really up in the air right now. It's such a surprise. I had no idea this was in the works. I'm a bit concerned as I expect that this little one will come in the end of October. I honestly had a little freak out when I first heard. With my history it would be VERY difficult to find an OB that would support a natural birth and the hospitals around here are NOT natural birth friendly, regardless of what they claim.
Fingers crossed that they can pull in enough community support for the birth center to continue to exist. Families really need a choice beyond the hospital. The hospitals around here that still have L&D services all top the 40% mark for c-sections. They no longer add birthing suites...they add operating and recovery rooms.

Yey for a great appt. Sorry to hear about the birth centre issues, I'm very surprised by those figures too, 40%??? That is alot of unnecesary surgery! Hope the timin works out for you
I am glad your ultrasound went well. I am surprised to hear that your hospital has a 40% c-section rate. That is crazy. I hope the birth center gets up and running before your LO arrives. How frustrating! I hope you get the birth that you want.
