So I had another appointment last Friday. All went well thankfully. I was a little worried because I had a some pretty bad pain. The doctor checked my cervix and it was closed thankfully. Chalk one up to round ligament pain. Did the one hour glucose test and thank god passed, but they did find out that I am iron deficient. So now I have to take a supplement. Which I have heard can cause you to be constipated. Have any of you gone through this and had problems or not had problems. Would love some tips if you have any.

Glad your appt went well.

I normally drink fruit smoothies to keep constipation in check. Just throw in a few fruits into a blender with either yoghurt or some water and drink. If you want it creamy add a banana. I found that that really helps!

Yay for good apt and good glucose test. Sorry I did not know about the iron. How long did it take you to get the glucose test results. I just did mine today and asked and they said they only call if there is a problem. ARG I like an all clear but now I am wondering how long I should worry about it as I do not go in for normal apt for another 3 1/2 weeks.

Well I had my test right before the office closed on Friday and got my results Monday morning. They should know pretty quickly I would think. You can always call to confirm the results. Always helps with a little piece of mind.

Glad to hear that your pregnancy is going well!

I am also anemic, and I've been taking iron pills for about 5 years now. During pregnancy I actually have to take 3x the amount for "normal" people, because I am seriously that deficient! The extra iron doesnt make me constipated, but I know that can be a very common side effect. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones and not be too affected by it, either.

I do have a tip for you though: if you take the pills with a glass of orange juice, it helps your body absorb the nutrients better.

Orange juice I like that idea. Help absorption and get baby moving. Win win.

Hi Heather. Yay for a good appointment!

Generally, constipation can be prevented by taking a food-grade iron supplement. Many supplements contain elemental iron, which isn't very bio-available so they need to add more to ensure you get what you're supposed to from it.

One good

Can you believe we're almost in the 3rd trimester. It's amazing how slow time moves but yet moves so fast. How are you doing now?
