Appt & General Update

I had a very uneventful yet wonderful appointment with my midwife yesterday. We brought our son for the first time and plan on bringing him to all appointments from now on, so he can feel as involved and connected to the process as possible. But he was definitely more interested in playing with the baskets of toys at his disposal, than anything to do with mommy and the baby in her tummy. Our midwife was going to have him help with using the doppler to find the baby's heartbeat, but he was not interested AT ALL. haha. But I didn't expect anything different, since he's so young and all.

That sounds really nice Lucia. :) We brought our DS to all my appt's when I was pg with DD. It was really cute, he loved the attention he got from my midwife and it just made him feel very involved. He was 2 at the time also. :)

Awe YAY for such a great appointment! That's wonderful to have your DH & son with you every time. We did that with our #2 baby too & it was really nice :) I'm betting those are baby kicks!

Sounds like a great appt! And yeah for feeling kicks! I'm sure once you feel some of the big kicks you will be able to get DS interested. My 3 y/o niece wasn't very interested until I started putting her hand on my belly when I was feeling the baby kick. Now she does it herself. Most of the time she says she can feel him when he's not actually kicking but it's still funny/cute and gets her excited to meet her cousin.

Thanks for all your kind replies girls :) I'm looking forward to feeling more movement and kicks, even though I know how intense it can get from my last experience with my son. I think as I get bigger, DS will definitely start to understand better and we can get him even more involved. I hadn't thought about him feeling kicks yet, but now I'm looking forward to the kicks, not only for me and DH, but for him too! I can see how it would be another way for the baby to seem more real for him.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Lucia

It's awesome when the heartbeat is detected immediately upon doppler contact, isn't it?!
