Frustrating Appointment

I went for a quick u/s and cervix check and left completely confused. The sonographer said my cervix was 3.6cm and very normal. I said ok, so it shrank by 2cm in the past 2 weeks? She was super confused then looked back at my last appt's paperwork and deduced that the previous tech "over-measured". OK, so if the other tech over-measured, who's to say this one didn't? Or under-measure? So she checked my cervix again and got a reading of just over 4cm. So what is it, 4 or 3.6? She basically said it didn't matter because it was all normal.

Arg!!! Yes, those numbers sure are different. I am glad you have an appointment tomorrow with your doc. I would be concerned as well and agree that it is a worth a mention tomorrow. Of course the difference matters, you are PAL. Now, take this for what it is worth since I have no idea at this point what the cervix measurements *should* be.

Hopefully you'll get some answers.

Oh I HATE that! I've had lots of those types of things with other pregnancies and with kid appointments and they just annoy me. I know there is variation but they should try to get the most accurate measurement EVERY time and NOT be so casual about possible flubs.

From the sound of their attitude I would guess it is likely they just measured randomly. I would definitely talk to the doctor about it it find out maybe which tech is most reliable and have the same tech every time so it can at least be consistent.
