Crazy few weeks!

I'm 33 weeks today, so yay that!!  But medically things have been crappy the past few weeks.  I had a bunch of labs sent off becaue I have been super super itchy, like, cuts & scrapes all over my arms & legs from scratching in my sleep itchy.  Benadryl & lotion do nothing. She's running some labs to rule out cholestasis of pregnancy.  It's not a classic sign becuase usually the palms of hands & soles of feet are worst and mine aren't bad.  She said she's 99% sure it's nothing but she wants to be safe.  Liver enzymes are normal but the bile acids (which are the real test) don't come back for another week or so.

More concerning though, I ended up in L&D Friday night. I've been routinely getting very painful Braxton Hicks while at work, which always calm down with a few glasses of water and an hour of rest after work.  But Friday morning after work they were just different.  My back was in a lot of pain, a constant strong ache, and the BH were stonger than ever.  So I called and they stupid nurse (who I've been annoyed at before) told me to sleep a few hours and see if it helps.  I had already tried water and rest for 2 hours and no better but she wouldn't listen to me tell her that I felt different and they weren't letting up.  So I did as told and went to bed a few hours, had to take my nephew until 3 like every Friday and called her again at 3 to tell her that the back pain was worse and I was crampy instead of having the BH contractions.  So of course this time I needed to come in "immediately" for an emergancy appointment (I love that it wasn't an emergancy 5 hours before that).  So as soon as Hannah got off the bus we went right now and they put me on a monitor.  I was contracting every 2-5 minutes.  Not strong at all and not causing any cervical changes btu to be safe she went me to L&D to be watched longer.

They didn't give me IV fluids, just toldme to drink a lot while there.  Did another cervial check (about 3 hours after the first) and still no changes but the contractions weren't different either.  They sent a urine specimen that was clear and did a fetal fibrinogen test.  Apparently that test is 99% correct if it's negative and mine was.  Basically it says I'm low risk for going into pre-term labor for the next 14 days from when the test was taken.  That said, it doesn't mean that the small contractions I'm having won't eventually start to cause cervial changes, which we obviously would like to avoid at 33 weeks!  So she put me on modified bedrest just got the weekend to see how I feel.  I do stlil feel a little crampy and the doctor knows that.  She is going to let me go into work on Wednesday night and then come to the office Thursday to see how I'm doing.  She will make a more long-term decision at that time about if I need to stay out of work for good or if I need to cut my hours, or if I can (hopefully) keep working until I planned.  Financially I need to keep working but obviously I will do whatever it take to keep Lucas in as long as possible and healthy!  Sorry it's so long, just been a crazy few weeks!

Sorry you've had such a crazy few weeks, I'm pleased you haven't gone into proper pre-term labor. KUP on how your other tests come back and keep rested (easier said, right??)

Hi girl - sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I've had a lot of trouble with the new website. So sorry you are going through all of this! I still think of ya every week as we both get one week closer to meeting our little ones. Sounds like yours is coming soon!! Are you feeling any better now? 34 weeks today! I will hope for you that you don't end up on bedrest. Personally, I am very, very tired all the time and sick of work and would welcome the break! But I don't think it's in the cards...I'm sure I'll end up working right up until delivery and then have to be right back here 6 short weeks later :-( *sigh*
