Conner Zachary was born May 21st at 3:39 pm after a scheduled induction at 39 weeks. He weighed 7 lbs 14 oz. He is doing really well right now. We had to go to lactation consultant yesterday to get some latch issues resolved but I think we got it! He had slightly elevated belliruben levels at birth but they are going down and the dr. is not worried.
Short version of the birth story - -
Dr. offered an induction at 39 weeks. I accepted since I have been so anxious to see him out and safe and was extremely uncomfortable. We started the pitocin induction (I was alreday 2 cm dilated) at 9 am and started getting contractions around 1030 am. I was planning on trying to pain meds except maybe an iv drug for some little pain relief, but was keeping my mind open. Contractions started off pretty mild and I thought that it wasn't too bad and I could probably handle it without an epi and did get a couple iv drug doses. Then all of a sudden they hit me hard and I just had to labor through some horrible contractions without and epi because by the time I wanted one I felt I would not be able to sit still through the 6 or 7 contractions it would take to get on placed.
I finally felt pressure like the baby was coming around 3:15. Dr. was called in and I pushed as best as I could and he ended up coming out with the assistance of the vacuum at 3:39. I had an episitiomy that is healing pretty well.
I would say that next time if I got induced I would go for the epi or wait for labor to start, but in hindsight I am still glad to have gotten induced, that it went so quickly, and to have him here safe and sound and healthy!
Thank you to you all for your support and advice throughout these long 9 months!
