((((HUGS))) I had one that was a not a good nurser and I gave up by about 6 weeks with him Went on to 10 weeks or so part time. I wish I had stuck it out though. I was never able to pump I have tried several pumps and my milk just never let down with out baby on the boob but that said I wonder if you have tried pumping. I have a friend that pumped and bottle fed the breast milk to both her kids will past their 1st bday. I would not give her a bottle of breastmilk till you decide not to nurse but if you decided she not getting the hang of the breast it a might be a good alternative. I only pray this one is the hardy nurser that 4 of his brothers were because I just not budgeting for the cost for formula.

Kara, I couldn't agree with you more! My brother and I weren't breastfed either my mom said I was just like my DD she said I would get frustrated and give up and cry. My DH and SIL were also formula fed babies too. Plus all the different types of formula out there and the fact that they make them to the point where they are exactly like breast milk is amazing.

I was not a fan either.

DD was awful from day 1. She had her suck reversed & would get nothing & do nothing for production. I hated pumping too. I would get nothing.

My experience was every time it seems better something else would go wrong. DD would nurse for 45 mins on each boob sometimes. She rarely fell asleep either. Either it was an hr each time I fed her or she'd nurse for 2 secs & start wailing.

As she got older she needed complete silence to nurse, so forget about going out in the mall or something. SHe wouldn't latch and kept looking at every noise she heard.

So Ill say it got easier but its all relative. It also wasn't until she was 6m that is was 'easier' I think around 3m she had the reflux issues & wouldn't eat all & would just turn away from my boob & cry! Ugh.

I'm glad I BF but I wish there wasn't such a stigma if its not working. I felt like a failure since it wasnt easy for me or her. Not what you want after giving birth. I did love it at times but it was a lot harder & emotional than I would have imagined. Its just not easy for everyone and its OK. My DD gave it up @ 9m on her own. I felt awful but in hindsight, I did my best & she was done. Life goes on.
