Thank you for all the prayers and good vibes. John Joseph was born July 13th at 9:19AM, 5lbs 2ozs, 18 inches long. Very complicated Classical C section. They didn't expect all the probelms they encountered--my kidney needed reattached and my uterus had windows along with a few other surprises. Left me on the table for two and a half hours and my spinal wasn't quite up to the task-so they kept dosing my IV lines to the point I don't remember him being born. but my husband was able to be there and watch his son born. They even let him hold him for a moment before they took him to the NICU.
I don't remember anything but waking up in my room. My husband said I woke up screaming and sure the baby was ;gone but I don't remember that part. He just kept showing me pictures and running a video as I woke up. That is what I remember as they came in to tell me he had to be transported to a larger hospital and put on a vent. He was in that less than one percent at 37 weeks that needs more support than a level II NICU. We were both transported--thankfully--I couldn't have been without him at another hospital.
In the last two weeks he went from vent to full CPAP, partial CPAP, briefly nasal air, and then breathing on his own. From IV feeding to a feeding tube to nursing successfully. He passed his carseat test and could hold his own temperature. He was ready to be released and then I had a few setbacks of my own. But we are now HOME.
It's surreal to hold him in my arms. I almost never put him down. I can't yet. I have at least one more surgery in my future to put things right after his birth, but I have no regrets. We survived what two surgeons said was ^scary close to a bad ending^
My husband was able to hold his tiny little boy and turned 40 all in a little more than a week!!!
Thanks again for all the support. I couldn't have handled this alone. It's said it takes a village to raise a child... well it took an Ivillage to get this one born
Thanks for Krista especially for updating everyone. (((HUGS)))
Hope the pictures come out ok.
