I'm sorry you are so anxious. Until baby is big enough to feel movin, there really doesn't seem to be any reliable way of checkin they are ok. The spottin can't be helpin either, or that midwife! Talk about reassuring! I was gonna suggest you buy a doppler, it means when your anxiety levels start to get high you can have 5 minutes lie down and listen to baby's hb and hopefully feel lots better afterwards.
I would suggest a doppler too. I know it really eased my mind to have one especially when I couldn't feel my LO moving yet. And I wouldn't worry about the weight gain at all. Some women are just different. I am currently 34 weeks pregnant and I have only put on 12 lbs but my baby is healthy and big! :-)
I know a lot of women who have spotted throughout their entire pregnancy and had fine, healthy babies. I'm sorry that the midwife wasn't very reassuring- I don't know what people are thinking sometimes!
I think that the doppler is a great idea! It's so hard when we're in this limbo time of waiting for movement, some sign that everything is ok in there. The brain can definitely run away in a negative train of thought sooooo easily.
FX that you get your doppler soon and can hear your LO's heart thumping away!
Colace is a stool softener and is completely safe to take during pregnancy according to all OBs and pharmacists. I take one a day at nighttime and have been regular ever since I started that (around week 11).
