Progesterone Levels?

My progesterone level came back at 11.3, which according to the lab I have my blood work done at, the "normal" for 1st trimester is 11.2 - 90. My 1st miscarriage, my progesterone was 10.4. My midwife said that

My first draw at 7w was a 7, and a week later on 100mg supplements it was 14 and she said they'd still want it higher so from then I took 200mg a day. I never got it checked again. I don't know the average protocol, that's just what my DR office did.

I think 11.3 is still *safe* but my doctor said they wanted it over 15 so when mine came back at 13 we supplemented.

My progesterone with this pregnancy was 11.8 (my hcg at that point was 72--- i think i was 13 dpo or something). my doc put me on the prometrium 200 mg/ twice a day because i have a history of low progesterone. This was by far my highest number compared to my other losses. I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask to have the number re-checked and make the argument that just because 11.2 is within "normal" range, when you have a history of loss, that may be on the LOW end of YOUR normal. It may be no issue at all, but prometrium is not going to hurt and if there's the possibility of it helping--- they should allow you to have it. I'm sorry I don't know your history, but I think you could use it to push the issue of supplementation.

Agree with the others - I would ask and ask for some progesterone supplements. It's debatable whether they actually help, but doctors will agree that they can't hurt anything. I was seeing an RE when I got PG with this baby, and the RE's office wanted my progesteron to be 20 or higher!!!
