when will I stop worrying?

Constipation - it is the most unglamorous part of pregnancy. Its so bad that in the past two days I've tried 3 doses of colace, 2 doses of metamucil, 2 doses of hot prune juice, 2 dozen prunes, a bran muffin, and coffee with no poop in sight. In desperation I went to the pharmacist today (sunday) and he said since I've tried all the natural stuff my next stop is glycerine suppositories or a fleet enema. I asked which is safest for the pregnancy and he said the suppositories since they don't go up as far.

I have constipation problems constantly too. The only thing that helps me when I get backed up are the suppositories and fleet enemas if it's really bad. I wouldn't strain much if I were you. Last year when I was pg with dd number 2, I was in the 2T, and strained HARD to go, and started spotting/bleeding. I caused a subchorionic hemmorhage with all my straining. Luckily everything was ok.. but now I try not to strain with this pg, and use the suppositories. They are very safe with pg. Good luck!

My RE recommended the fleet enema when it got bad for me at the end of the 1T / beginning of the 2T. I have never had to use an enema in my life and was absolutely terrified! But he said that it was much safer than risking an impaction, so I did it. It took less than 5 minutes and I was back to normal. If you need quick relief, the enema is the way to go.

I was constipated prob the entire pregnancy. Colace actually made it worse. Lots of water helped and I used suppositories a few times, they did help. Sry,I know it's annoying.
