Hi Ladies I am greatful to say that my sweet girls are here and are healthy. They were early but 33.6 weeks is a good start. Alexis came in at 4lbs 7oz 17 1/2 inches long and Samantha came in at 4lbs 10oz 17 1/2 inches long.

Last Monday I felt a little wierd cramping and such but I had thought this way regularly for weeks since I had been contracting and on medication so I didnt get to worked up about it. I went to sleep and thought I had just been paranoid but when I woke up around 2:00 am I thought my contractions were on the strong side so I got up to time them and was coming in every 4-5 minutes so I called the hospital she said since they felt different I should definetly come in and take my medicine first. So I did DH was grumpy that early but he got over it when I got to the hospital around 3:30 I was contracting every 1-2 minutes and they really hurt then the nurse said they usually watch you for an hour before checking but with a regular pattern and the intesity I had going that wouldnt be wise. So I got checked and I was at 4cm 60% effaced. Right away they shot me up with some Turbuteline and things calmed down. So next came the steriod shot which just to let you know really hurts going in. Of course its worth it but wow! They were able to keep things quiet with Niephedipine which is what I had been on since 23 weeks. I was going to be at the hospital for the remainder of the pg because I was so far dialated it would be safer. I had my 2nd steriod shot 24 hours later and all was still calm. Wed afternoon I was able to take a shower.

I started to contract again Wed afternoon as the time between my medication doses was closing in. Soon it was working for less and less time and it was obvious it wasnt going to hold. Around 7:00 the dr came in and said it looks like were going to have a birthday with each contraction one of the babies was having heart decels so it was offical I was having a C Section. They were born at 8:35 pm and 8:36 pm. I was not awake as I had been feeling to much as far as I was concerned so the Anthesiologist gave me something extra to calm me down and really it knocked me out. I had to try really hard to come off of it and got to see the girls around 10:30 pm.

They are doing really well in the NICU. Alexis never required any help breathing Samantha had to have some room air pushed through a nasal cannula but shes off of it now. They are under the lights for Jaundice but improving with the therapy. Alexis is a champion eater I havent tried to nurse yet but Im pumping what I can. She eats mostly off the bottle and only once in a while through the tube. Samantha still has the IV and eats half and half between the nipple and the tube. All in all they are really strong and doing good. I was able to help with the feedings and cuddle with them for feeding time. Im home now its really hard to leave them but I know they are getting really good care. I just have to try and stay positive so I dont cry all day. I will get a little time to heal from surgery before they come home. And I have two DD's who need me here. Still I just want to hold my babies.

My current mission is to get some decent amount of milk pumped Im having a hard time with it so if anyone has any helpful tips I would appreciate it. Keep cooking your little ones ladies. Sarah

I will post some pictures as soon as I can get them off the camera maybe its sleep loss but I cant seem to do it.

Congrats on your girls! They were great sizes! Must be hard to be home without them, but at least you will be fully recovered from surgery before having to care for 2 newbies full time. Have you tried taking fenugreek? You can buy it at a health food or natural foods store (maybe even a good grocery store). Take 2-3 capsules 3 times a day and most moms notice an increase in about 1-3 days. It is very safe, but may make you and your milk smell sweet- like maple. You can also buy that Mother's Milk tea if you like tea and it has fenugreek and other herbs to stim milk.

Congrats on the girls' arrival!! I'm glad they're doing so well and I hope they're home with you very soon.

As far as increasing your breastmilk - try eating oatmeal every day, drink more water than you can stand and if all else fails, try some Mother's Milk Tea (it's actually really good)...I found it in the natural foods section of my regular grocery store - otherwise GNC carries it, too. The other thing - sleep. You need your rest to produce milk.

Best wishes to you all!!
