I am so sorry to have been MIA lately, but the last week or so of this pregnancy was just about unbearable. I spent a lot of time walking around various malls in the area trying to get labor going because the sleepless nights, incredible pressure and painful contractions were killing me. I actually got sent home from the ER one night with contractions 2 minutes apart, regular and intense...because without cervical change it isn't really labor. I got to spend the next three days in that condition, and it was pure misery.
Anyway, I must admit that as tired as I am I feel about a million times better now that our babies are here!
We went in on the 24th around 4 p.m. I was still having contractions 2 minutes apart but they felt more intense than they were a few days earlier, so I called my doc and she said to come in. They checked me and I was finally a 4.5 (it only took forever!) so she said that since she was the on-call doctor that night and wanted to deliver the twins she'd let me stay.
However, I'm guessing the full moon put everyone in Cincinnati in labor at the same time. Because I was still progressing slowly, they weren't able to be more agressive and put me on pitocin, because too many women were delivering at the same time (including another woman delivering twins the same night). So they never did help me along, other than breaking my water around nine o'clock at night.
It took me until seven the next morning to finally dilate completely. Then, my doctor was running between two other deliveries at the same time so I wound up waiting to hit the OR.
We got to the OR and got situated and luckily things went so fast from there it was unbelieveable.
