Birt and Gabrielle have arrived!!

My twins were born on Friday, December 29th via c-section. My surgery was scheduled so we had a calm and uneventful trip to the hospital.

Baby A, Birt N. III, was born at 12:34pm at 5lbs 11oz and 18 inches. Baby B, Gabrielle Laura, was born at 12:35 at 5 lbs 14 oz and 18.5 inches. I was at 36.6 weeks and both babies came out crying and totally healthy. I felt instant relief as each one came out. I could finally breathe and see over my belly. We stayed in the hospital for 4 days and they did great the entire time. It was really nice to have that time to adjust to having two babies to care for. The only wrinkle was a very mild case of jaundice for both that seemed to clear itself up on New Years day. My recovery is going really well. All of my c-section worries seem to have been for nothing. So far, the worst was itching from the epidural and severe pain the day after. But, the meds took care of both and I rarely even need pain meds now.

We have been home for almost a week now and I have never been so happy and exhausted. Right now my biggest challenge is getting them both to breastfeed. Gabrielle feeds like a champ but Birt is having a hard time. They are such a blessing but a lot of work. I am so happy!!!
