Blake and Brett have arrived!

Hi Everyone!

The boys came one day before their scheduled induction date which was supposed to be today. I went into labor on my own on Monday afternoon. I was having very regular contractions so they went ahead and broke Brett's water and got everything going. I was severly vomiting on Monday and continued to do so all through labor. They put 5000 ml's of fluid in me and all I put out was about 200. Now I have all this fluid in my legs and they're about twice the size as they usually are. I labored for about 12 hours before I started pushing. I got my epidural after about 4 hours of labor. About 4am Tuesday, I tried to push Brett out for 2 hours and he would not get past my pubic bone so the doctor had to use a vacuum to get him out. They then "Hoovered" Blake out 17 minutes later. Brett was 6lb 4 oz. and Blake was 6 lb. 9 oz. Both are 19 in. long and doing great. Both took to nursing like champs. Blake is a bit jaundiced, but not bad at all. We're so happy to have them home! Will post more later!

Congrats on the boys. I love the picture you posted.

I was wondering how it was to have your baby vaccumed out. I am just trying to prepare myself for all possibilities.

It is great to hear that you were able to have them vaginally, that is my goal... so I hope these two stay head down.

It wasn't bad having to use the vacuum. My doc used a kind where he could control the pressure on the babies head and pull and release as needed. Neither one of them have cone heads. Brett has a round bruise on the crown of his head which you can't see through his hair and Blake has one by his hairline because he came out with his head facing up instead of down. I wasn't prepared for a vacuum birth because my DD came out in only 5 pushes. After 2 hours of trying to push these guys out, I was practically begging to get them out any way they could. I hope yours stay head down, too. Our baby B, Blake didn't turn head down until week 35! So, we were pleasntally surprised to have a vag delivery. Good luck to you!

Thanks for your response. It is good to hear that it was not that bad to have them vaccumed, so I have less to fear about that. Your boys are so cute, I love the picture. It is hopeful to hear that they can turn head down that late in pregnancy. My boys are head down right now, I just hope they stay that way.

Congratulations, Lynn! Those are great sizes. And great names - I have a brother named Brett. I hope all is well.
