Our babies, Grace and Ryland, decided to make their appearance on Christmas Eve. Here is the story:
Got out of bed in the morning and my water broke on the way to the bathroom. We were 34 weeks 6 days with no complications, so we weren't 100% ready. We quickly packed up and called my mom to get our 2 year old-- it was quite the morning since my hubby works nights and just got home an hour earlier. A couple hours later our babies were born by C-section (had a previous C-section and Baby B was transverse).
Baby A, Ryland, was born at 5 lb 3 oz and 18 inches. Baby B, Grace, was born at 5 lb 6 oz and 17.5 inches. Due to being before 36 weeks, our hospital has a NICU nurse per baby. Unfortunately, both were admitted into NICU and stayed past my 4 day stay. Ryland came home on Saturday, Dec 30 and he was only admitted because he was early and had low blood sugar initially. He did everything perfectly by eating well and gaining weight. His twin sister, Grace, had some lung problems and some additional complications. A few days ago, she pulled out her oxygen and feeding tubes and ended up not needing them anymore! We were able to bring home our angel yesterday, January 3.
Now I am having a grand time pumping every 2 hours and trying to teach both babies to breastfeed. Its very interesting balancing twin babies and a 2 year old. But, the babies are both beautiful and we are so blessed! Also, for those interested in weight loss after pregancy, I already lost all my pregnancy plus 8 pounds in just the week and a half since the birth! Not bad!
Good luck to all of you and your pregnancies!
