negotiating a date ....
Wed, 01-09-2008 - 6:52pm

So, at my next appt i will be 32 weeks and 5 days - (this friday) and i really want to bring up the subject of setting a date for induction or c-section...
is it too early to do so???
the reason i need a date so bad it so i can make arrangements for my mom to take DS for two weeks prior to the birth (she lives in another state.) and also, DD comes to visit the 1st 3rd and 4th weekends of each months and i would like to schedule it around THAT as well...
did any of u have a "date" by now??

I don't think it's too early at all, as long as you know the date may get thrown out the window.LOL You may go into labor on your own, there may be a medical factor that changes things, of course I'm sure you've thought about that!

Although I wasn't technically 'on the books', we had all discussed it and agreed on the date. (I was having a repeat c-section). My OB does not let twins go beyond 37 weeks, and only does scheduled c-sections on Mondays. So the date worked out to be Oct 30, which put me at 36w5d. We scheduled everything around this date, and were lucky enough to make it!

Let your doctor know all your reasons for wanting to schedule things early and they will most likely work with you. Of course, if I were you I'd rather not have to be either induced or have c-section, so I'd think you'd only want to schedule one of those if there is NO way you can deliver vaginally.

It is not too early at all to set a delivery date.

When I was pregnant with my son we scheduled the c-section for 37 weeks 6 days three months in advance - my 38 week mark was New Years Day and I wanted the tax deduction.

i am definatly going to discuss it with the DR tomorrow...
i don't mind being induced to deliver vaginally, because that is what i did with 9lbs DS!
LOL. and i dont want a c/s --- but if they feel it is necessary because of the way baby b is sitting right now, i trust they will do whats right.
thanks for your opinions though - it eases my mind to know that others went through this.
