Our triplets were born via c-section on 3/17/08 at 34.5 weeks.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! You did an amazing job for keeping them in so long... heck I only went 31 weeks with 2! I can't wait to see pics!
I am really surprised at your job. I think you should look into that some, because my understanding is that FMLA occurs after the babies arrive. If you were taken off work by your doc, that is a whole diff issue and shouldn't affect the FMLA. A friend of mine went off early because of GD, and was still able to take 12 weeks off afterwards. That really sounds unkind to me, and in a way, I wouldn't want to return there because of "that policy". It's so unkind!
Hope to see you over at Raising Muliples!!!!!!
Congrats on the Triplets arrival. I hope you get to bring home the babies soon and you find a better company to work for that cares more about their employees.
My work did the same thing. Two days before I went into labor I was laid-ff b/c my FMLA ranout. I was on bedrest
mama to my three handsome boys
A big welcome to your girls! I bet they are gorgeous and I cannot wait to see pictures.
As for the job issues. It angers me that America, being one of the most important countries in the world, rates on par with some third world countries (and I am NOT kidding, here) as far as maternity leave/pay is concerned.I think that your bed rest should be considered illness/medical leave. Not maternity leave. You still should have a right to that. This is something you might want to look into. Although, after this stunt, I am not sure what you could expect if you kept working for these people. The system is pitifully unreliable, and it certainly does not protect the citizen. At least, if we had socialized medicine, even if you got laid off you would not loose your benefits, but this way? Plain ridiculous, if you ask me. Makes me want to move to France or England....
Congratulations on the arrival of your triplets! You did an amazing job getting to 34.5wks with them. That's longer than some of us - including me - carried twins! I hope your DD is doing better soon.
I'm sorry to hear about your job too. I'd suggest at trying to find out if they can legally fire you in this situation. I know the laws vary state by state. I'm not sure where I would start with trying to find out if this was legal. Maybe the Equal Opportunity Employment type of agency? Maybe calling a lawyer?
Please keep us posted on how you and your babies are doing!
congrats on your triplets and i know your little one will be out of the nicu before you know it.
i was put on modified home bed rest at 18 weeks and strict hospital bed rest at 26 weeks ( i delivered at 30 weeks ). when i was 13 weeks i took myself out of work and my re filled out my paperwork and i was given short term disability from work. so for 17 weeks i drew 100% of my pay on short term dis and then still got my 6 weeks of maternity leave 100%. after my maternity leave was up they asked was i coming back and i told them no lol they said they didn't blame.
anyhow my question is was short term disability not an option for you or how did your company work.
Congrats on the birth of your three miracles!
