I had progesterone shots from midMarch until midMay as part of my IVF procedure. I have to warn you that it is thick stuff and hurts pretty bad. I got more used to it by the end. My husband had to do it for me because I just can't see back there. I didn't know that they did this also later in multiple pregnancies. I'd hate to go through those shots again. Sorry. Not to scare you :(

I'm just about 27 weeks with my two boys and I've been getting the shot for two weeks now because I have a funneling cervix and they are concerned about PTL, they actually give it to me right in the doctor's office every week and so far so good, my cervix has not gotten any shorter and my boys are both progressing wonderfully.

I was on progesterone suppositories for the first 12 weeks of my pg but I have heard of others having to take the shot. I had my first shot in the dr's office at the appt (and will go back weekly for it) and it truly didn't hurt aside from the initial stick and when she pulled the needle out. I did so many shots for so long between the Follistim and the trigger shots each cycle that the needles aren't too scary anymore, although I know this one was delivered in a much much bigger one! Since DH and I are apart I'm not sure my mom could handle it, nor would I ask my teenage brother (lol) so I'm glad I get to go to the office. ;-) (Totally random, but I did try doing a trigger shot in my butt one cycle because I didn't want to wake DH up to do it and all I succeeded in doing was breaking the skin enough to bleed because I couldn't bring myself to push it all the way in! Luckily each cycle after that my trigger was in the stomach and so much easier!)

Thank you for sharing your experience...I'm happy to see someone else on the same regimen because I don't think I've encountered it yet anywhere on these boards. I have my first official cervix check in 2 weeks (all of the past appts they've just said that my cervix "looks good and long") so I'm anxious to hopefully get some more details on it. I am glad that we're being proactive, it's just always scary adding in yet another thing to take/supplement. And of course I didn't think of any questions until well after the office closed! They warned me of it hurting or itching but so far I haven't experienced any of that.
