I haven't had any experience with the pushing of your stomach out and holding your breath, but the reason they have you lay on your side to get measurements is to prevent you from cutting off the oxygen to your brain. When the uterus gets too big/heavy laying on your back with compress an artery/vein that sends oxygen to your brain. That will cause you to get lightheaded or panic. At my 22 week u/s I had a panic attack due to oxygen deprivation.
I didn't have o hold my breath, that's a strange request. I do remember being on my left side much longer than my right, I figured it was because laying on the left is recommended. That and my DS was on my right, not buried under anything so he was easier to scan. Hth

Thank you , yes it helps in answering the side question but I am drawing a blank on the other, I went online and i couldn't find anything but then of course I do not know what they were looking for, its very frustrating having to wait on the answers, my head is
The first thing that came to my mind when you said that about having to hold your breath is that maybe they couldn't see as well as they wanted, maybe things were blurry and by having you hold your breath it would give them a clearer image. I say this because I had an ultrasound done a few years ago to check a small fibroid on my uterus and they kept having me hold my breath too.
Hope that's all it was, the tech could have at least reassured you!
Neither did I as I have only seen it advertised as Ruby but when I recieved shipping information it stated the colour as Twilight so I called the company and the lady on the phone said it comes in both colours and that was the only colour avaliable..I could wait for the ruby coulour if I wanted I declined and accepted the blue..(its really just navy as I have peeked in the box)
