Anyone experienced VCI?

Has anyone had an experience with a velamentous cord insertion (VCI) with their pregnancy? I had an u/s done and the doctor (Radiologist) said that twin A had the VCI and there were risks associated with it, but I would need to see a Peri this week to get more information.

I did the worst thing and went online, and now I'm scared out of my mind. I'd love to hear any experiences, good or bad.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Sara,
I don't have this, as far as I know, but one of my good friends just delivered b/g twins last month and her daughter had VCI. Both babies were born healthy and strong (one weighed just under 6 lbs and the other was almost 7 lbs), but she did have to be monitored carefully and had to have a C-section @ 36 weeks because it would have been too risky to let her go into labor. I believe the issue is that the cord was not protected the way a cord usually is, so going into labor would have posed a risk to that baby. I'm sorry I don't know more about the technical side of it, but I DO know it's possible to have a great outcome :) Good luck to you!!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad everything went well for your friend, that gives me confidence that it can be okay for me too.
