Baby Wearing with Twins

Hello Ladies:

I'm relatively new here and we are expecting twins in August. I have been trying to find information on baby wearing products for twins or personal experiences with baby wearing. While I'm not opposed to a stroller, DH and I are Active Duty military and sometimes there isn't enough room in the peds lobby (or any waiting area in the hospital where we work). It would be much easier to carry the babies in slings.

For those of you who consider this, what are your thoughts? Are we unduly naive or do you feel this might be a good option for us.

Thank you,

Gabrielle

After too many failed natural cycles to mention, discover that previously clear tubes have become blocked after surgery to remove fibroids (however, no more fibroids). Decent FSH for 40 year old

Hi Gabrielle. There is one wrap in particular that can hold twins, as newborns mostly because the weight of two quickly adds up to more than most can comfortably carry. I think it's the Moby, but let me get back to you on that. I use just a standard front carrier (I have a Jeep one that I LOVE and a Chicco one that's eh) and slip one twin in there and carry the other one on my hip. I can't still hold ODD's hand and carry a purse to get us all in and out of tight places without the stroller.

I would also suggest you look into the Double Snap n Go stroller, it fits in a lot of places my big giant double won't go. HTH and congratulations

Thank you Elissa! I will definately check out the wrap and the double snap and go stroller. I've been conducting an informal poll on twin strollers which mostly consists of accosting strangers and asking them if

I'm 99% sure the Moby wrap allows to "wear" twins...

I've worn my twins in the Moby Wrap and it's great. Once they are in and settled, the babies go right to sleep.

The double snap-n-go is also very handy.

I have a single sling that I use to carry just one, and can still hold the other if necessary. DH loves the bjorn, so with that, we can each carry one baby.
There are a few I found while researching when preggo--I know nothing about them, but they say they do the job :)

Also love the double snap'n'go as well as my baby jogger city mini double--both from Craigslist :)
Good Luck!!!

The second one concerns me. Those type of carriers can pose a breathing hazard, they're too closed up over the babies face, KWIM?

I lost an ebay auction on the first type though. I wanted one, I just didn't want to pay $120 to get it. ;-)

Thank you all for the hints. I am going to try a moby wrap and the double slings. I've had 2 back surgeries and DH thinks the moby might be the most supportive. When they get too big to share, i guess we'll get another moby for DH.

Best wishes,

Gabrielle

The consumer product safety commission just announced that they are investigating baby slings because babies are suffocating in them. They have confirmed many deaths due to the babies suffocating in the mother's clothes or the babies heads being bent forward so much that it closes off their airway. I heard this on the radio Tuesday night, so they should have something on their website by now.

They're investigating things like the Infantino Sling Rider, similar to the bottom picture in a previous post. Regular slings and baby wearing are incredibly safe *if done correctly*

I tried slings and couldn't figure them out! My cousin got me a TwinTrexx Twin Baby Carrier and I love it. You can carry both at the same time or split it up with your partner.
