It most certainly could be. First thing I would do though is request another u/s between now and the 18 week mark. That's too long to go without knowing IMO.

As for the doppler question, your OB won't be looking for two hb's necessarily and even if he/she were, they can't always tell. My own OB refused to check hb's without an u/s. She said she couldn't be sure which hb she was hearing, if it was the same baby that moved, one baby and the other's placenta, both babies, both placentas, too many variables. GL and KUP, okay?

Find another OB! You should never feel stupid..I was feeling that way and like I wasn't getting my questions answered and he didn't even remember I was pregnant was twins. I say get one now. They work for you remember that! GL keep us posted!

I second the PP, find another OB! No one has the right to make you feel stupid or look down on you because you're young. I had a bad experience with my first OB, and being young (I was 25 but still "young" and she looked down on me because although legally seperated, I wasn't yet divorced and I asked that my charts not have my married name on them. We had been separated for a year and it was most definitely not his baby) I wish I had known then what I know now, and had the courage to find another doctor.

The worst thing that can happen is you don't like the next OB either. The best thing that can happen is you get the care you deserve and someone that doesn't dismiss your concerns because of their personal bias.

I am really considering that now i want to feel comfortable with my doctor enough to ask him questions but my ob makes me nervous. I feel that he should have taken it more serious when I told him what the sonographer said. Instead he basically called her a liar and told me that I shouldnt believe what she said and what I saw. Anyways shouldnt he be more concerned with the fact there is a possibility of me having twins, I have read tons of things that can go wrong and I sort of think he should be a little more concerned. I love this website it took me forever to find a forum about twins and multiples

(((Stephanie))) well I'm glad you found us. :-)

Sure, there's lots that can go wrong but that doesn't mean it will, don't panic yet. Just take a deep breath and figure out if there's another OB in town.

I think thats what needs to be done. But I live in a small town so Im thinking of going to a bigger town maybe their doctors will know more about twin pregnancy and might actually treat me like they give a flip!! LOL....Since they told me it might be twins now I sort of have my heart set on it...Im really hoping it wasnt just an extra sac or i miscarry one or somethin like that but i havent had any bleeding or anything so im thinking theres a good chance both are still in there! Im gonna keep my hopes up until I find out otherwise.

Hey Steph!!!

Just caught up on what everybody had to say and I TOTALLY agree... Find another OB! You have to get along with this person for the next several months!!! So you should really like or at least respect your doctor and they should do the same for you.

Being from a small town also, I made the decision to doctor in a larger town near by with my daughter and then when I found out we were having twins this time around I was even happier that I didn't go to our local clinic. Because if you are expecting twins, you may want to deliver in a larger hospital anyway.

The closest hospital to me doesn't have a NICU let alone a high risk OB doctor (I'm seeing one ONLY because its twins). So chances are I would have had to switch doctors to somebody who had delivery rights at the larger hospital as it is!!!

At least do yourself a favor, schedule an appointment with another OB doctor, if nothing else to get a 2nd opinion about your suspicions!!!! My OB specialist was pretty shocked about my being pregnant with twins with no fertility treatments, no family history, and only being 27! LOL But please keep us posted!! :)
