Lack of belly growth... Getting discouraged!

I hit the 12 weeks mark today and I suppose since I found out I was expecting twins, I assumed I would start showing early on... This lack of belly growth has got me a little worried... I am on the overweight side, so my pre-baby ponch may be masking any kind of baby bump? The area above my pubic bone has felt more firm for a few weeks now but it doesn't seem like I'm going to pop anytime soon.

I've also lost weight during the 1st trimester, possibly due to my appetite changing...

Should I worry about this weight loss and not showing? :smileyindifferent:

I didn't show until 14/15 weeks, then I just popped. It wI'll happen and in a short time you'll be missing this stage and wishing you weren't so huge. ;-)

I'd say that I was a little bigger than you, and I didn't start to show until around the 18 week mark. I wouldn't worry in the slightest.

Thanks for the responses Elissa and Rebecca!

Elissa, you are right... I know once I start growing, it won't stop... I am trying to enjoy it now, but I'm just so anxious to show! I think it will bring some reassurance. :)

Rebecca, thank you! Every time I search for "twin belly pics", most ladies seems to be showing soooo early!! (Especially the slim ones.) I suppose I will have to

I had a mini-belly-pop at around 13 weeks and then a BA-DOW belly at 17 weeks. At the multiples class I just went to there was a girl who was 20 weeks and you couldn't even tell she was pregnant, let alone with twins!! Everyone is so different, I wouldn't worry about it (I know it's hard not to!)

My first belly shot was @ 14 wks. I really dont remember what I looked like @ 12 wks. I also had lots of pooch from DD. By 14wks there was no sucking in if I cared to :)
Dont worry, it will come!

I'm about the same size as you & I just popped in the last week or so. Don't worry. Give it another week or two.

Thank you for your words of encouragement ladies! They are very much appreciated!!!

I got to hear babies' heartbeats for the first time yesterday with a home fetal doppler I ordered online... and what a relief. It's so great! For those interested, here is the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMZOfx1iG8w

I go for an ultrasound tomorrow.. an other reassurance! :)

I feel a bit more bloated today than normal... Grow belly grow! ;)

Just a word of caution, don't freak out if you can't find a hb. They're so small at this stage that even some OB's won't attempt it with a Doppler. Also as an FYI, the placenta also gives off a "hb" so things may get very confusing in there. ;-)
