You're going to find as many opinions as there are strollers. :-P IMO, you need a double SNG to start with. You can easily take the bucket, snap it into the stroller and you're off. It's very lightweight and fits into a standard car trunk. You can find them on craigslist cheap, but even new they're only $100. After that, I would love to have an umbrella and the heavy duty, but I just have the Kolcraft Contours Tandem. I live in a townhouse so I don't have a ton of storage space, but I keep the stroller in my car anyways. It's a beast, but my 3 y/o ODD can even ride in it if I wear a twin, that's what sold me. Well, that and the fact that I found it literally barely used on CL. Good luck!

I had the graco duo glide travel system...graco carseats clipped into both carriages, and then, as they get older, they can still ride in it without the carseats. They're 3 and still fit comfortably...

Hello. The stroller situation has been a hot topic at our house too.

I haven't had my boys yet, so I can't say which stroller is the absolute best, but my husband and I decided we just wanted to buy one stroller that could be used when they were infants and when they got, after much researching we went with the Kolcraft Contours Tandem stroller. It can accommodate two infant seats (it comes with one infant seat attachment, but you have to buy another for twins), but should also work when they are older. It seems to fold up nicely, and whereas it is bulky, I don't think there are many double strollers that are not.

In the future, I imagine we'll look into finding a double umbrella type stroller, or maybe just two cheap umbrella strollers for light trips and such.

Here's what I have found so far...
I bought a double snap'n'go on craigslist for half price, and we have used it tons! It's the only way I can leave the house with the babies and my other kids, too. It is so nice, especially here in the cold climate, to be able to just pop the carseat from the car into the stroller without disturbing the babies.
I *thought* this would be the only stroller I'd need for awhile, but...I wanted to walk a few places, and found it a pain in the butt to load the babies into their carseats then into the s'n'g jut to walk a few blocks to the library or a friends house. (Plus they HATE being in their carseats!) So, I started looking for another double stroller. I read RAVE reviews of the Baby Jogger City Mini double--it is a side-by-side, but it's very narrow--easily fits through doorways and between racks. It steers super-easy, folds easily and is pretty lightweight, too. So, I searched CL daily, and found one there, barely used, for a huge discount.
I am so glad to have both and use both all the time, depending on the situation. I keep the s'n'g in the car, and the city mini in my house, ready to go.
Good luck!!!
