Vanishing Twin - Heartbeats?

Hi Ladies, I'm hoping you can ease my mind a bit.

With my first pregnancy, we found out we were having twins at 6w1d, but one had a heartbeat of 110 and the other was 88. By our next ultrasound at 7w2d we lost the one with the lower heartbeat.

Spring forward and I'm pregnant with twins again. At 6w1d we found out it was twins, one had a heartbeat of 126 and the other was 44. Our next ultrasound was today at 6w4d after bleeding, and now both twins measure the same and both have heartbeats of 116.

With vanishing twins does it usually start out with one smaller or lower heartbeat, or is it still possible after seeing two good heartbeats?

I'm just really nervous and want to prepare myself if I need to.

Thanks,
Sara

I don't really know anything about vanishing twin syndrome, but I wanted to let you know that you're in my thoughts and prayers!

Hello!! :)

I'm not really much help either, from what I've read on vanishing twin syndrome its been diagnosed more & more because of an early ultrasound... But from what I understand, the closer you get to your second trimester the more your risk for VTS decreases, kind of the same way miscarriage does.

So on a positive note, I would say since they're both measuring good and have strong heartbeats you have less to worry about... I always say prepare for the worst and hope for the best. :)

Please keep us posted... We'll be thinking about you!!!
