Broke all the "rules"

I see that not many people are on these boards anymore....that's too bad. A couple years ago we had a m/c and I loved the support I had here. Now I'm here with a new quandry....my last "baby" will be 2 this spring. I'm 36 and we were done. We were just watching my cycle and kind of doing the opposite for ttc and what do you know, I just got a bfp. I am happy for that but scared to death. Since we were supposed to be done, I've not been good to my body....I take anti anxiety meds that I know aren't safe. I also had ibu for a couple of days. I even stained a bookshelf. To top it off I soaked in a hot tub a couple of times. So now I'm afraid of having done damage when I didn't even realize I should've been more careful!! I'm afraid of another m/c that would totally be my fault or a baby that has severe problems because of what I've done.

Does anyone out there have any thoughts, suggestions? I know I can't even really talk to a dr yet because they don't usually see the heartbeat until 6 wks. Besides I have a stupid dr office (only one available....blahh!!) and they won't even really talk to me until 12 wks. So in the meantime I'm freaking out!!

Hi there,

First off, congratulations on your pregnancy!  While it may have been unexpected, I can tell that you are invested already.  Second, try not to worry (I know, easier said than done!).  Plenty of people don't find out right away that they are pregnant and break the "rules" without meaning to and then go on to have healthy pregnancies and children.  Have you been able to talk to your doctor (or nurse) about the anxiety medication you've been taking? There are plenty of options that are perfectly safe to take during pregnancy.  It's certainly worth a call.  Also, it wouldn't hurt to discuss your other concerns and see if there is any way you can get in earlier.  If anything, it will help calm your nerves a bit.  Wishing you the best of luck- please let us know what you find out!
