Come on lady this supposed to be MY week off too and by week off I mean week off of HOMEWORK. Furthermore Liam is going away for 3 days!! with his grandparents so yah no they won't be helping him with this 5 page assignment you gave him to do over break so that leaves less time for us to work on it and did I mention for MOM she was looking forward to a break so really if you are giving kids work to do over break what exactly is the break for?? they are young they NEED a break too. Oh and just in case any families were blowing out of town early today she gave it to them yesterday!!!
Sorry needed to vent...

Venting allowed!
I am in
we got a kid in day care we afford vacations either :0 plus my sitter takes 4 weeks off and only 2 coordinate with school breaks so I don't even have vacation time to spare but my parents are taking both boys skiing for 3 days. Now seeings as my parents probably can't help him so thats 3 less days for us to work on the assignment!!

my neices school does a voluntary science fair starting in kindergarten. SIL is a teacher so she has tons of kids science stuff so she does have her do them. Liam loves science I probably would do it for fun. We do silly science stuff on school breaks although me being a science dunce they hardly ever work :)
Anyway was suprised at the reaction of mutal friends when she posted her 1st graders science fair stuff. Friends with kids the same age complaining their school is so lacking. Um you have an issue your 6 year old doesn't have to do a science fair??? Maybe it is only me who thinks we are expecting way too much. Like I said Liam likes science so he would be into it but my other neice who is older we'd twist her arm in 5th grade so imagine in kindy or 1st grade it would have so been my sisters project and you run the risk of turning a kid from school very young. Now Liam's project over break was over a book and I the connections they wanted these kids to make my DH couldn't do. "How do you know the dad loves his son?" OK so the story is kid afraid of bikes lies says he has to work for dad to get out of playing with friend who just learned dad finds out plays along with the work end of story kid gets a bike. My guess is close majority of kids on their own probably connect love to buying the bike. Sad fact of our reality but even for me trying to explain to him and maybe its just my kid maybe other kids his age can read between the lines and answer these questions without mom leading him unsuccessfully there...
But its a loss cause, while I do agree that schools needed to make changes I think our schools went from 1 extreme to the other and lost the middle ground they probably should have met at.
Neither of my kids had any homework over break.
I totally agree!
