Sleepover Dilemma

I'm looking for some advice from other parents on this one. My daughter who's 9 was invited to a birthday party sleepover. It's not her first sleepover -- she's had them with cousins, grandparents, and close friends. She has no issues with separation and sleepovers are one of her favorite things. My concern is that we really don't know the family at all. Their daughter has been in my daughter's class before, and they seem perfectly nice. All I really know is where they live (close by), what they do for a living and that they have a son who is a few years older. What do you think? Would you let your daughter go?

I probably would as long as you have met the parents before and they seem nice & normal.  I think that people have become overly suspicious nowadays--when you think about it, the majority of people are not criminals, etc.

I wouldn't have much of a problem with it personally, I agree with Musiclover that people tend to be overly suspicious moreso now. You may want to agree to it and then take her over and scope out the place for anything that looks weird if it makes you feel better.

We did our first sleepover last weekend. We have known the family since first grade and they are now in the 5th grade. Don't know them THAT well aside from school events and the dad was the assistant baseball coach on his team one year. Figured he passed a corro for that and this year he and his wife coached a team so they both passed one, plus they have 2 high schoolers still alive and kicking and very well behaved kids too. Really not sure what they do for a living, think he is in a trade. But like other poster said sometimes we over think things. Sleepovers at friends are a big indepence milestone.
