Why is busing rocket science?

You'd think the Office of Pupil Transportation never ran school bus routes before. M's bus can't make up its mind which side of a busy 3-way intersection it wants to stop at. A's bus for preschool was fine the first week, but now there's a different bus company and pickup/dropoff time each day. We're talking 7:40 pickup last week, and 8:40 today. Pretty drastic difference, especially when you have to get an older child off to another school. They have been really remiss in failing to communicate changes to the bus schedules. Yesterday, A's bus never showed up at all in the AM. His bus was so late today that we missed the grade curriculum meeting at M's school. Arrgh!

Wow -that is crazy! And I don't even understand the difference in pickup and drop off times. Are those the scheduled times? How could they differ by an hour? When does school start?
Are parents up in arms? It seems beyond excusable!

Sadly, this b.s. goes on every year, often for the first several weeks of school. Good thing ds doesn't depend on the free breakfast at his elementary school, b/c his bus never arrives in time for it. My preschooler's bus company has taken to calling us every night to state it's target pickup time in the AM. Today they were only 20 minutes later than they predicted, better than Tuesday's hour!
