Just wondering if there is anyone out there who has not started back to school yet?

We still have a week left, and I honestly wish it was sooner ;) They really need to get out of this house.

For my 2nd Rebecca it has gone really well but, you know there was a but didn't you. Kaitlyn's teacher I am not overly impressed with at this point. 4th grade had a huge turn over this year with 1 teacher leaving, 1 teacher retiring, 1 only there a year and 1 with 25 years experience. With that said we got 2 new teachers, the 1 who has a year experience and 25 year teacher. Kaitlyn got the one that has been there the longest, which I had hoped would be a good thing since she will know the ropes and knew what needed to be done. Kaitlyn has a 504 plan and things in place for her to be successful and I would think my now she would have at least told me that plan of action on when she would start with the reading specialist. Besides that she just has not been on top of things. Kaitlyn comes home with homework but she never makes them write in the agenda what they need to do, she never checks the work the kids do and then they keep it in their homework folder. My question is how does she know how the kids are doing if she never sees their work. Kaitlyn does not even know what she will be doing with the homework, whether it will stay in her homework folder all the time or will she eventually collect it. Then today she said she took a Math test, most likely an assessment, but the kids will check it she won't. Again what good is this!
Yesterday I spoke with a teacher or a former teacher of my girls as a parent and she instructed that any communication I have with the teacher I also cc. to the principle so she knows what is going and keep a copy myself. This is in hope that is forces her teacher to communicate with me. I sent a release of information last night and cc. the principle and I have not heard back. So with that said for now I will keep my mouth shut and wait and see. If I am not happy then I going to say something.
I have every right to know what is going on in class and how she is doing so we can insure kaitlyn gets what she needs. I also don't know because she has moved up I should just expect teacher to stop communicating with the parents. But what I don't get is why is she not making them use their agenda books and writing down their homework when this skill they will need for the next many years in school. Last year they used it very night and was reviewed every day by the teacher. It's like she does not want to put forth the effort.
sorry that got long.
