Yes, Nathaniel seems to enjoy fantasy over other topics as well. Last summer we did read 'Where the Red Fern Grows' and he loved that. I was skeptical b/c it was not his norm but he really enjoyed it.
DD is reading Pride and Prejudice. She can't believe how long it's taking--she's used to being able to blow through a whole book in one day, and this one is slow going because the language is difficult--but she's enjoying it.
He just finished a biography of James Audobon for school and is reading Dragon Orb: Firestorm. Today he is about to start a book called Walk the Rim for history.
Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Somehow the kids were wondering what the ultimate answer was one night at dinner and I said "42" Now my oldest is finding out why that is the answer! (I did have to order it from the library for her.)
I picked The Egypt Game b/c I had read it in school. Actually I remembered my teacher reading it to us. So when I saw it in Scholastic I couldn't resist :)
Ds11 is currently reading The Dark Tower and Other Stories by CS Lewis. They have a book report due every month in a different genre or category and this month's is favorite author. He didn't like all the stories, though he wanted to try something different from Lewis than his Narnia series or religious writings. Last month they did mystery and he read The Hound of the Baskervilles. He's not a huge mystery fan either, unfortunately. He loves fantasy and that's what he'll do

I'll have to look at The Egypt Game. I'm not familiar with it.
We just finished The Egypt Game and he is now in the middle of the first Percy Jackson book.
Not sure what he is reading at school.
