I baked a homemade chocolate cake w/ chocolate buttercream frosting this weekend; we had family over for dinner.

we don't buy lunch so not really sure but new policy here pretty much eliminates sweets. I know for breakfast the option used to be pop tarts donuts and bagels. Think its now bagels, muffin or fruit but um first 2 aren't really THAT much better then pop tarts or donuts. Learned from the old weight watchers days 2 plain glazed donuts have fewer calories then a muffin or bagel and cream cheese.

Most of our fundraiser contain stuff banned under new food policy but because the stuff is assumed to be consumed at home it passes. For now just waiting for the day we get the fruit basket fundraiser :)

It's not so much the cafeteria menu as the junk they sell for fundraisers. They're always sending home candy catalogs, or having the PA cell heart-shaped lollipops for Valentine's Day or something. The cafeteria sells some things that are best in moderation or in other forms, like white carbs, but not straight up junk food.

We have flavored milk everyday too. I know that on Friday's they can have icecream but then their lunch also comes standard w/ jello and whipped included regular on Friday.

What!? That's crazy! I might just have to check if they sell stuff like that. As far as I know, Tuesday is "treat day" where the kids get ice cream or a brownie with their lunch, but only on Tuesdays.

They have flavored milk every day and, to me, that should only be a once-a-week thing.
