I'm not sure when Earth Day (4/22) turned into Earth Month (April) but I for one am glad that it did - and it's coming right up! In honor of the month where we try to spread the word about living more sustainably, tell me about an un-green habit (of yours or your family) that you'd like to change. (I promise I won't hold you to it!)

We're easing our way into a Real Foods Diet where you eat mostly fresh veggies & fruit, a limited amount of organic meat and dairy, and very little processed food. I think one of my un-green habits is letting my kids eat the junky lunches they get at school.

When they started school a few years ago, I packed their lunches every day and only let them buy school lunch on special occasions. Now I let them buy lunch every day because it's so much easier on me, but not so healthy for them. In light of the pink slime "meat" that was in the news last week, I know that I should really start packing their lunches again.

I would love to get rid of my minivan (it was a gift) and buy a Prius. I feel guilty every time I drive it.

well we are back to be ungreen for the momment. Our town went to a pay as you throw trash thing so at $2 a bag, which made this non green family a little green. I'm recyling things maybe I should but then last week my recyling bin disappeared and city yard is only open 8-4 mon to fri and Dh works 7:30-4:30 and I work 8:30-5 but takes 30-40 min to get to work so no clue how we are supposed to get a new one. We do want to upgrade the size so we can recyle more but the city won't collect without an offical sticker you can only get at the city yard.

The other thing we do is leave lights on. We were robbed twice. DH works for Comcast and they are starting an alarm service we are first in line for a hook up. Once thats up we won't be electricity hogs but for now we leave the house with lights and the tv or radio on...so mother earth I just can't risk another break in.

I'm with you there! We have an Explorer, which is not eco-friendly at all. We live in the mountains though and really need a 4WD in the winter time. Also, with three kids it's hard to have a small car. A 4WD Prius would be nice!!

I leave my outdoor lights on all night a few inside lights as well for the same reason. We now have a community watch b/c a house on the next street over from me was broken into a few months ago.

I already bring my own bags to the store, buy pretty green food, grow my own garden, recycle and often bike to work and school b/c we live only a mile or less from both.
